Benedict Cohen is a writer and director who makes sparky, playful and confrontational films about power, masculinity and obsession.

He has just finished writing and directing Moderation, a BFI funded short film.

Before that, he directed four episodes of EastEnders and 2nd Unit for BBC’s Silent Witness (S28). In 2021 he directed a short film for BBC3, called BFF, as part of their series, The Break.

Otherwise, he has written and directed short films that have shown at BAFTA and Oscar qualifying film festivals. Most recently, Austin, Bolton and London Short Film Festival. Money Shot also won Best Screenplay at the Discover Film Festival.

His feature screenplay, Ability, was a BlueCat, BAFTA Rocliffe and Film Market Hub finalist. While his latest script, A Weekend In The Country, was a Screencraft 2022 finalist.

He’s also directed work for Stella McCartney, Kenwood, Amazon & Just Eat, Stowford Press and Old Rosie. His films have featured in the Guardian, Directors Notes, Booom TV, Directors UK and the Shiny List.

Ben studied at the National Film and Television School (NFTS).
